Staying at Augsburg not out of the question for Hinteregger

Martin Hinteregger says staying at Augsburg wouldn't be the end of the world.
FC Augsburg defender Martin Hinteregger has made it clear on a number of occasions that he would be happy to sign permanently with Eintracht Frankfurt where he spent the second half of last season on loan.

The 26-year-old joined Frankfurt on loan in January after a dispute with the now former Augsburg coach Manuel Baum, but since Martin Schmidt has taken over the reins, the centre-back now says it wouldn't the end of the world if he had to stay at WWK Arena.

"What I experienced in Frankfurt during this half year was unique. I'm thankful for that - because it was amazing being part of it. But now, I'm here, playing for Augsburg where I still have two years left of my contract," Hinteregger said in an interview with Kicker and continued:

"If the coach had still been here, it would certainly not have gone any further for me. But we now have a new top coaching team.

"Three years ago, I knew what I was getting into with a five-year contract. And I wasn't unhappy in Augsburg in the first two and a half years," the defender said.

Hinteregger's contract with Augsburg runs until 2021.
