Renato Sanches: I wasn't prepared to join Bayern

Renato Sanches has reflected on his difficult spell at Bayern München.
Renato Sanches has explained why he struggled to live up to the expectations at Bayern München after joining the Bavarians from Benfica for €35 million in 2016.

The 22-year-old left the Bavarians to join Lille in a €20 million deal in August and has now taken a look back at his tough spell in Munich.

"I wasn't prepared, because it all happened too fast for me. I had only been a professional at Benfica for six months, and suddenly I moved to one of the biggest clubs in the world. When I got there, everything was completely different," Sanches said in an interview with RMC Sport.

"I wanted to stay, but it didn't go the way I wanted it to. Despite everything, it was important to play for Bayern. I learned a lot, became more mature and more adult," he added.

Sanches made 53 appearances for Bayern in total, scoring twice and making three assists.
