Glasner: 'I'm pleased with the performance'

Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner thought his side played well in their 3-1 win over FC Oleksandria on Thursday.
Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner was happy to begin this season's Europa League campaign with a 3-1 win at home over Ukrainian side FC Oleksandria on Thursday.

Maximilian Arnold and Admir Mehmedi sent Wolfsburg ahead 2-0 in the first half. The opponents pulled one back midway through the second half, but Josip Brekalo was quick to respond with the 3-1 goal.

"We've very happy to have started with a home win. Oleksandriya began as we expected them to: they attacked us very high up the pitch and we needed a while to get into the game. Then we scored two very good goals, so overall I'm pleased with the performance," Glasner said in an interview on Wolfsburg's website.

"It wasn't an easy situation because everyone was expecting a home win, but we knew all about the opposition and that they're a good team. It was great to see us score a third right after we'd conceded."

In their next game, Wolfsburg lock horns with Hoffenheim at home on Monday.
