Oliver Glasner: We should never have lost

Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner was disappointed to see his team suffer a 1-3 loss to KAA Gent on Thursday.
Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner thought his side 'should never have lost' Thursday's Europa League game against KAA Gent.

Speaking after Wolfsburg's disappointing 1-3 defeat, Glasner said:

"We were hoping for a different kind of evening. After the first half an hour we all thought that things were going in the right direction. After we'd taken the lead though, we became more and more passive, even though we were still in control of the match.

"What then happened is quite simply what's been the case in all of our matches in recent weeks. The opponents' first chance was converted into an equaliser and our heads went down

"We had a golden opportunity to take the lead again, but instead we shipped another goal on a counter attack. And at the end of the day we’ve come away with a defeat from a match that we never should have lost," Glasner said, as quoted by the club.

Glasner's side have lost three games in a row and are without a win in six matches ahead of their Bundesliga clash with Leverkusen on Sunday.
