After much consideration, Bayern München ultimately turned down the chance to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig for €25 million last summer.

And despite Werner's impressive 2019/20 campaign so far, the German champions still aren't considering landing the 23-year-old, who would be available for around €50 million thanks to a release clause, according to Kicker.

Instead, Leroy Sané remains Bayern's top transfer target. The winger nearly joined the Bavarians from Manchester City last summer, but was prevented from completing a move to Germany when he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in August.

Bayern are now hoping to bring in the 24-year-old in the summer, although nothing has been agreed yet, according to Kicker. Sané recently changed his agent, so the German champions have to begin fresh negotiations with the player's new representative.

Kicker claims that one thing is clear: Bayern will not be signing Timo Werner in the summer if they manage to bring in Leroy Sané.

According to Bild, Werner currently prefers a move to Liverpool.
