Van Bommel slams VAR after Sevilla draw: 'Everyone could see that that wasn't a penalty'

Mark van Bommel was unhappy with the decision to award Sevilla a penalty towards the end of Wednesday's Champions League clash at Volkswagen Arena.
VfL Wolfsburg coach Mark van Bommel criticized the use of VAR technology after his side were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Ivan Rakitic scored a late penalty goal to earn Sevilla a point after Josuha Guilavogui was adjudged to have fouled Erik Lamela in the area after a VAR check.

"Regarding what happened at the end, I would say that you can go too far with VAR. Everyone could see that that wasn't a penalty," fumed van Bommel on the incident that saw Guilavogui receive a second yellow card.

"We deserved to win it so I'm not happy with the point that we've got. But we're just going to have to live with it and move on to the next match, with Gladbach next up on Saturday."

Having previously drawn with Lille in their opener, Wolfsburg sit third in Group G of the Champions League.
