Report: New Moukoko injury may be serious

Youssoufa Moukoko is on his way back to Dortmund after suffering a muscular injury whilst on international duty.

Statements made yesterday by Germany U21 head-coach Antonio di Salvo appear to suggest that the injury may be serious.
Initial reports surfacing yesterday spoke of a "minor muscular injury" for young German phenom Youssoufa Moukoko. The new national team trainer of the Germany U21s nevertheless dropped a hint about the severity of the injury when he told reporters that "he [Moukoko] is an MRI right now."

Without divulging the results of the MRI, the German FA confirmed late Wednesday evening that the 16-year-old had been released from national team duty and was headed back his club in Nordrhein-westfalen. Germany's Sport Bild reports that a second MRI will take place in Dortmund.

It looks as if the teenager may be set for a long spell on the sidelines in any case.
