Report: Bayern eyeing up Barcelona quartet

A report in Spain has suggested that Bayern Munich are setting their sights on 4 Barcelona players in the next transfer window.
According to the Spanish outlet Sport, the record champions have their eyes on Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Frenkie de Jong, Sergino Dest, and Pedri.

All 4 players have previously been on Bayern's shopping list, with the USMNT right-back being the player that both Barcelona and Bayern battled for in 2020. Dest ultimately ended up choosing the Catalan side to join for €21m from Ajax.

Bayern were linked in that same summer with a loan move for the supremely talented Spanish midfielder Pedri, but no move was materialized. The Bavarians have also been long admirers of ter Stegen as the replacement for Manuel Neuer, who continues to be fantastic at the top level with Bayern and Germany. But again no move was engineered, with Neuer performing exceedingly well considering his old age at 35.

In regards to de Jong, during that overhaul of the magnificent Ajax team from 2019, Barcelona snapped up the Dutch wonderkid for €75m, but Bayern were interested in the now 24-year-old back in 2018 along with current Juventus center-back Matthijs de Ligt.

Barcelona recently announced that they had made losses of €481m and president Joan Laporta said that the club had a negative net worth of €451m. Player sales are of the utmost priority for Barcelona having spent no money on transfers in the summer, only making free-agent signings.

While the targets are unrealistic Barcelona are in desperate need of some funds, and since Bayern were previously linked with each of the 4 targets, so there may be some movement on this front.
