The deal was announced back in March, at which point Simakan was sidelined with a long-term injury.
Speaking to Goal.com, the 21-year-old reveals that unlike many other clubs, Leipzig weren't scared off by his injury.
"Leipzig came in for me when I was injured and a lot of other clubs didn't pursue me because of that. RBL came and showed me that they really wanted me. I really didn't expect that," Simakan told Goal.com and continued:
"The coach and the sporting director pointed out everything they liked about my game, everything that needed to be improved, what we were going to work on individually and tactically. They presented all the tools to help me improve as well as the facilities and equipment.
"All that combined never made me doubt coming here," emphasized the French centre-back.
Simakan has featured 10 times for Leipzig so far.
