Hannover 96 are unlikely to sign Hamburger SV loanee Bobby Wood on a permanent deal after this season, Sport Bild reports.

During the summer, the American international joined Hannover 96 on a one-year loan deal that reportedly includes a purchase option of €7.5 million which is deemed too much for 'Die Roten'.

Wood, 25, opened his goal scoring account for Hannover 96 in the past weekend with two goals in the 3-1 win over VfB Stuttgart.

Hamburger SV are currently sitting third in the 2. Bundesliga with 17 points after the first nine games.
