Lothar Matthäus believes Marc-André ter Stegen should start for Germany instead of Manuel Neuer.

According to Matthäus, the German captain isn't at the level he was before the serious injury that kept him out of most of the 2017/18 season.
"Manuel Neuer doesn't currently have the form and safety that he had before his serious injury. He's currently not back in the shape that made him the best goalkeeper in the world four times," Matthäus wrote in his column for Sky and added:
"Marc-André ter Stegen has been world class at Barcelona for years. I think he has slowly earned the chance to start an important game, even if Neuer were available."
Following the disappointing 0-3 defeat to the Netherlands in the weekend, Germany will face world champions France on Tuesday.
