Leverkusen boss 'very optimistic' that Wirtz will be fit for Bochum

Bayer Leverkusen boss Rudi Völler is 'very optimistic' that Florian Wirtz will make his return from injury this weekend.
Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Rudi Völler is expecting to see Florian Wirtz back on the pitch against VfL Bochum on Saturday.

The highly-rated 18-year-old missed Leverkusen's 1-1 draw against Hertha just before the international break due to problems with his hip flexor, but should be back this weekend.

"We are very optimistic about Florian," Völler said in an interview with Kicker.

In addition to Wirtz, Leverkusen could have a few other players back from injury.

"With [Lucas] Alario, it also looks good," added Völler.

"I've seen [Karim] Bellarabi on the pitch as well."
