Kohfeldt hints at way back for Mehmedi: "Always liked his way of playing football."

VfL Wolfsburg head-coach Florian Kohfeldt has his concerns heading into the next round of Bundesliga action.

Although the 39-year-old trainer remains undefeated in competitive play, his side dropped a test fixture 1-3 to Hansa Rostock over the international break.

In interviews this week, Kohfeldt made clear that he's amenable to some unconventional solutions.
When it comes to the plethora of attacking options on his roster, new VfL Wolfsburg gaffer Florian Kohfeldt is certainly the envy of many other trainers across the league. The new head-coach nevertheless isn't totally satisfied with his team's offensive performance. Twelve goals through 11 league rounds simply isn't good enough. Only Fürth, Augsburg, and Saturday opponents Bielefeld have scored less often.

"We have to determine basic orders and positions," Kohfeldt noted in an interview earlier in the week, "Nothing is set in stone. We have to see. I'm gathering information and putting a jigsaw puzzle together at the moment."

Speaking to the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, the young trainer specifically referenced talents such as Wout Weghorst, Luca Waldschmidt, Dodi Lukebakio, Maximilian Philipp, and both Nmecha brothers. He also revealed Yannick Gerhardt to be an offensive anchor of sorts, calling him a player who stands for "balance and stability."

As for other players such as Renato Steffen, Daniel Ginczek, and the soon-to-return Bartosz Bialek, Kohfehldt simply reiterated that he had to "piece things together."

Kohfeldt was also specifically asked about Swiss international Admir Mehmedi. The veteran's exclusion from Wolfsburg's Champions' League roster in September surprised many as few Bundesliga watchers considered the 30-year-old to be past his prime.

"Admir is someone who wants to play regularly," the new trainer conceded, "Like all players, he receives attention from me and can prove himself in training. The first signs were pretty good. I can't make a final assessment yet."

"My exchanges with Admir are very good," Kohfeldt added, "I know him and have always liked his way of playing football. We'll take a look at it over the next few weeks."
