Freiburg defender admits desire to play for the biggest club in Germany

Nico Schlotterbeck has admitted that he is dreaming of playing for Germany's biggest club.
SC Freiburg centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck has hinted that he would like to play for Bayern München in the future.

In a recent interview with Kicker, the 21-year-old centre-back didn't mention the German record champions by name, but said he would ideally like to play for the best team in the Bundesliga in the future.

"If I perform well, even bigger clubs will come knocking," Schlotterbeck said and added:

"I'm not a guy who necessarily wants to play in England or Spain. I always wanted to play in the Bundesliga, and preferably at the best club."

Last summer, the Schlotterbeck was linked with Bayer Leverkusen and VFB Stuttgart among others, but he ended up staying in Freiburg. By his own account, he's happy that a transfer didn't materialize.

"The way my season is going, it's perfect. I hope it stays this way until the end of the season," said Schlotterbeck.

The young defender spent last season on loan at Union Berlin. Earlier this year, he was called up to the German national team for the first time.
