Reports: Goretzka and club decide against surgery
Both Germany's main sporting tabloid and Sky's Germany affiliate report that FC Bayern München's Leon Goretzka will not need surgery after all.
An official statement from the club is still lacking, but two of Germany's main sporting news sources currently report that Bayern and German national team midfielder Leon Goretzka will be able to avoid surgery for his persistent Patella tendon problems. FCB trainer Julian Nagelsmann revealed last week that club and player were considering the option.
Germany's Sport Bild reported earlier in the day that club and player had decided against it. This was also reported later in the say by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany. The two sources currently report that the 26-year-old remains unavailable for the weekend fixture against 1. FC Köln, but should be on the comeback trail soon.
Update #Goretzka: Yes, no surgery (according to BILD). But his comeback is still unclear. He will definitely miss the match against @fckoeln on Saturday. @SkySportNews 🔴
