Confirmed: Eintracht secure Knauff on 18-month-long loan

The loan arrangement that will send Dortmund youth prospect Ansgar Knauff to Eintracht Frankfurt ended up being a long-term lease.

SGE sporting director confirmed that Knauff will likely be starting on the right flank as soon as possible.
If all goes according to plan, 20-year-old German youth international Ansgar Knauff will play for die Adler of Germany's commercial capital through the end off the 2022/23 season. Eintracht Frankfurt welcomed one the country's more promising young attackers for a a long loan stint on Thursday evening.

BVB interim trainer Edin Terzic gave the Dortmund academy product a chance in the first team last spring. Knauff responded with two goals in four Bundesliga appearances. The youngster caused quite the stir with his game-winning goal against Stuttgart in a crucial early April fixture.

Under the regime of new head-coach Marco Rose, Knauff has oscillated back and forth between the senior squad and reserves this year. He's made nine competitive appearances for Rose and eight for BVB II.

"Ansgar fits very well into our team," SGE sporting director Markus Krösche said in a statement, "He wants to take the next in his development here."

Upon hearing revived rumors of the deal yesterday, many speculated that Knauff was being sought to serve on the right-wing opposite Filip Kostic. Krösche effectively confirmed this in his statement, also noting "he is capable of helping us on the flanks immediately."
