In an interview with Bild, VfL Wolfsburg managing director for sport Jörg Schmadtke has addressed speculation over the futures of wantaway striker Wout Weghorst and under-fire head coach Florian Kohfeldt.

With regard to Weghorst, who has been linked with a move away from the club, Schmadtke said:

"There have been no inquiries for Wout. It's surprising that there is no offer for someone, who regularly scores goals in the Bundesliga and has clearly announced publicly that he is willing to move."

Schmadtke also confirmed that Florian Kohfeldt will remain head coach for Wolfsburg's next game against Greuther Fürth despite a poor run of form that has seen the club take just two points out of a possible 27 since their 1-0 win over Augsburg on November 6.

However, the Wolfsburg chief was willing to admit that the pressure is mounting on Kohfeldt – and everyone else at the club.

"I don't want to hide that this game is like a final. But for everyone involved, not just the coach," he said.

"This game will have decisive influence on the rest of the season.

"It's no longer decisive that we're moving in the right direction. At some point, we have to get things over the finish line."

Wolfsburg sit 15th in the Bundesliga, just two points above the relegation zone.
