Neuer could play until he's 40, says Kahn

Manuel Neuer is capable of playing until he's 40, according to Bayern chief Oliver Kahn.
Bayern München CEO Oliver Kahn has backed Manuel Neuer to keep playing beyond the age of 40.

"Yes, he absolutely can," Kahn told reporters at a press conference when asked if he believes the 35-year-old Bayern captain can go on until he's 40.

"Manuel is breaking all records and is leaving me with nothing. I told him to leave some record for me. But he is very ambitious and is showing no signs of fatigue," added the Bayern chief.

"He's leading the team. You can see it and you can hear it. He's the typical example of a player who is never satisfied. He's still very capable to play for a long time. I was 38 or 39 when I retired. I slowly had enough. Manuel is different."

Neuer's current deal expires in 2023, but reports have claimed that he's close to signing an extension.
