Mainz set to sign Frankfurt midfielder

Bild and Sport1 report that Mainz have agreed personal terms with Aymen Barkok, whose contract with Eintracht Frankfurt expires this summer.

Mainz have agreed a deal to sign Aymen Barkok from Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Bild and Sport1.


Per Sport1, the 23-year-old midfielder will make the switch to MEWA Arena on a free transfer this summer when he is out of contract.

Barkok has been limited to just six appearances for Frankfurt this season. In total, he has appeared 63 times for 'Die Adler', amassing four goals and six assists.

In addition, Mainz want to sign a new striker. According to Kicker and Bild, 'Die Nullfünfer' show interest in Ragnar Ache, who is also under contract with Frankfurt.

Meanwhile, Allgemeine Zeitung reports that Mainz are keeping tabs on Delano Burgzorg, who plays for Dutch side Heracles Almelo.
