VfB Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat has made no secret of the fact that his club did not possess the capital to complete any incoming transfers during the current January window. His hand perhaps forced by the fact that the team has gone five straight fixtures without scoring a goal (and six games since seeing a goal from a striker) it looks as if the former Dortmund and Arsenal personnel exec. has at least managed to swing a long-term-loan.

Nineteen-year-old Portuguese center forward Tiago Tomas of Sporting CP will reportedly join the Swabians on a long-term-loan deal through the end of the 2022/23 season. This was first reported on by the Stuttgarter Nachrichten and then confirmed by Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano later in the day.

The youngster has represented his country at various youth levels, netting 11 goals for the Portuguese U17, U18, and U21 sides. He made his debut for the Lisbon professional's senior side in July 2020 and amassed 13 scorer points in 64 appearances since. The teenager has been mostly used in relief this season.

The local German newspaper reports upon the existence of a purchase clause; possibly one of the "final details" Romano reports need to be clarified.

The last Stuttgart striker to score a goal, Wolfsburg loanee Omar Marmoush, remains out on duty for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations. Since returning from injury, Sasa Kalajdzic hasn't tallied in three starts yet.
