Schlotterbeck expresses desire to stay in the Bundesliga

Freiburg centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck has more or less ruled out a move abroad.
Nico Schlotterbeck has been linked with a move away from Freiburg, with both clubs from the Bundesliga and from abroad said to be showing interest in the 22-year-old.

In an interview with Sky Germany, the centre-back has now underlined that he would like to stay in Germany.

"For me, it's still a dream come true that I play in the Bundesliga. And that's why I don't have the desire to go abroad" he said.

"Whether it's about England, Spain or Italy, I want to stay in Germany if I can."

Preferably, Schlotterbeck wants to play for one of the best German clubs – and perhaps one that is "a level above" Freiburg.

"There are simply bigger clubs in Germany, and everyone has the goal of achieving as much as possible," he said.

A week ago, however, Schlotterbeck refused to rule out that he could stay at Freiburg beyond the summer.

"It's very possible that it won't go anywhere and I'll stay in Freiburg," he told Stuttgarter Nachrichten.
