Confirmed: Veteran striker Ginczek moves to Düsseldorf

Veteran Bundesliga striker Daniel Ginczek will continue his playing career in his native North Rhine Westphalia.

VfL Wolfsburg and Fortuna Düsseldorf confirmed the transfer of the 30-year-old striker on Saturday.
Wolfsburg center forward Daniel Ginczek is headed back the 2. Bundesliga, where he once played with FC. St. Pauli, VfL Bochum, and VfB Stuttgart. The veteran journeyman's rumored transfer to the F95 was confirmed on Saturday. Ginczek departs Germany's northern "Autostadt" after three and a half seasons with Germany's green company team.

Much of his time with his latest Bundesliga club, not unlike the rest of his career, was marred by injury. The 30-year-old has still managed to score 29 Bundesliga goals in 120 appearances for Stuttgart, Nürnberg, and Wolfsburg. He also has 27 2. Bundesliga tallies on his CV.

"Daniel brings with him a lot of experience and knows what it takes to score goals in the 2. Bundesliga," Fortuna Düsseldorf head-coach Christian Preußer said in a statement, "Additionally, thanks to his physicality, we obtain more options for our attack."

"I've long had supportive tendencies for Düsseldorf," Ginczek himself added in a statement, "I'm glad its worked out. I hope to help out with my experience and some goals as well to get us out of the second division."

Details on a transfer fee were not provided. Ginczek's current estimated market value, well down from its peak of €12 million in 2019, currently stands at €1.2 million in the latest transfermarkt listings.
