Report: FC Köln want to extend Baumgart's contract

Steffen Baumgart has impressed since taking over as FC Köln coach last summer. Therefore, the club are now reportedly looking to extend his contract.
FC Köln want to tie head coach Steffen Baumgart down to a new deal, according to Sport Bild.

Per the German sports magazine, the club have informed Baumgart that they would like to extend his contract before the end of the season.

However, nothing is likely to happen in the near future because the negotiations will be handled by new managing director Christian Keller, who will not take office until April.

Sport Bild further reports that Baumgart will be paid €100,000 if Köln qualify for the Europa League this season. Should he manage to lead the club into the Champions League, he will receive €250,000.

The former Paderborn coach's current deal expires in 2023.
