Nagelsmann: Neuer could return against Leverkusen, "very likely" to play against Salzburg

Manuel Neuer should be able to play against Bayer Leverkusen and RB Salzburg "if everything goes well," Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed after tonight's win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Bayern München could be boosted by the return of first-choice goalkeeper and club captain Manuel Neuer ahead of their important games against Bayer Leverkusen (March 5, Bundesliga) and RB Salzburg (March 8, Champions League).

Neuer is making good progress in his recovery from knee surgery, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed following tonight's 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, which saw Sven Ulreich fill in for the 35-year-old.

"'Manu' will resume goalkeeping training next week. If everything goes well, he will be there against Leverkusen. It's very likely that he will play against Salzburg," Nagelsmann told reporters after what he described as a "valuable" win.

"It was uncomfortable playing here. I was particularly satisfied with the fact that we won the majority of the challenges. In the first half, we really only lacked goals in attack, and at the start of the second half, we actually had to score earlier," explained the Bayern coach.

"At the end, after we took the lead, the game was a bit hectic. The clean sheet was very important. If you look at the last few games, this was a good step for us."
