Union Berlin and VfL Bochum have targeted Fortuna Düsseldorf midfielder Marcel Sobottka, according to Rheinische Post.

Sobottka's contract expires at the end of the season. Fortuna are said to be in advanced talks with the midfielder about a new deal, but want to wait and see how the 2. Bundesliga's relegation battle unfolds in the coming weeks.

"Nothing has happened yet. We need to step up our game. It's clear that we can't already set the course for the future now," said sporting director Klaus Allofs.

"We had the first talk with the coach about it last week. We are in talks with all the players, but we have priorities, of course."

27-year-old Sobottka has spent almost seven years at Fortuna, who currently sit 13th in the 2. Bundesliga.
