Report: Bayern plan to open contract talks with Lewandowski

AZ reports that Bayern want to discuss a new deal with Robert Lewandowski in the coming months.
Bayern München are reportedly planning to open talks with Robert Lewandowski over a new deal until 2025.

According to AZ, the German champions want to sit down with the 33-year-old, whose current deal expires in 2023, within the next few months.

Bayern board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic recently said the club want to keep Lewandowski beyond the summer, emphasizing that the star striker is "of course a very, very important part" of the team.

When asked about Salihamidzic's remarks, Lewandowski replied:

"I'm hearing that for the first time.

"I'm calm. I know that, with my experience and at my age, I have to stay calm. It's important for me to focus on my game.

"I know what football looks like and how everything works. What's important to me is what happens in the game next week."

Lewandowski has scored 39 goals in 33 games for Bayern this season.
