Report: Akanji's chances of staying at Dortmund "close to zero"

By Rune Gjerulff

Borussia Dortmund no longer seem to have a realistic chance of extending Manuel Akanji's contract.

The probability that Manuel Akanji will sign a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund is "close to zero", according to Ruhr Nachrichten.

Akanji has turned down a contract extension, and Dortmund are unlikely to make a new proposal for the centre-back.

Since the 26-year-old has just one year left on his contract, the Bundesliga outfit are likely to cash in on him in the summer.

Dortmund have already secured a replacement for Akanji, having confirmed the signing of Niklas Süle on a free transfer from Bayern München.
