In an interview with Sport Bild, Hofmann confirms that the club would like him to sign a new deal. The German international, however, is yet to make a decision.
"In recent weeks, the situation here has been so difficult from a sporting point of view that I've been more concerned about what we can improve than thinking about my own future. I really can't say what will happen yet," Hofmann said.
"What I can say is that I'm a guy who wants to see everything, and who wants to experience everything. I want to be able to tell my children and grandchildren that I've been everywhere.
"But this is my seventh season for Gladbach, which is also not to be underestimated. I have a connection with the club and feel very comfortable here.
"I have a special relationship with Borussia. As far as my sporting plans are concerned, I will communicate quite openly and honestly with the club."
Hofmann has been a key player for Gladbach this season, racking up eight goals and three assists in 22 games in total.
