Guido Burgstaller gave Schalke 04 a great start with an early goal last night as the Gelsenkirchen side defeated Galatasaray 2-0 at home in the Champions League.
After a 0-0 draw in the first game between the two sides in Istanbul, the Schalke striker was happy that his team managed to take their chances at the Veltins-Arena.
"It was a perfect evening for Schalke and for us as a team. We were really strong and deserved to win. We didn't put away our chances in Istanbul. We wanted to do better at home, and we did well today. We're happy that we got the three points," Burgstaller told Sky after last night's win.
'The Royal Blues' are slowly making amends for a poor start to the season and are moving in the right direction, says Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco.
"We are very happy with three important points today. The games in the group are so tight. I'm pleased for my team, as they simply work so hard," Tedesco said according to the club and added:
"I know that we are going in the right direction. We have a lot of confidence and the lads are doing a good job right now. We have learnt however, that we cannot allow ourselves to drop off."
Schalke are sitting second in their Champions League group with eight points after the first four games. Meanwhile, Domenico Tedesco's troops are in 14th place in the Bundesliga.
