Bayern München coach Niko Kovac, who has been criticized a lot lately, has been backed by coaching legend Ottmar Hitzfeld.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's clash between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern München, the 69-year-old says he is convinced that Kovac, who used to play under Hitzfeld at Bayern, can handle the pressure.
"He has always had strong nerves. Niko marches ahead and can focus on the most essential things in such situations. He's excellent at leading his team. Im convinced of his strengths. He's up to the task," Hitzfeld tol Sport Bild.
Hitzfeld also commented on how he currently sees the balance of power between the two sides.
"Bayern remain the favourite for me, but Dortmund can become champions. They have the potential to stand up to Bayern," he said.
Borussia Dortmund top the Bundesliga, four points ahead of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayern München.
