Confirmed: No punishment for Modeste following "coffee brand" goal celebration

FC Köln striker Anthony Modeste will not be disciplined for a self-promotional goal celebration taking place in the 2021/22 Bundesliga's 31st round.
After review, the DFB sports court has opted not to punish Köln's Anthony Modeste for a goal celebration on matchday 31 which saw the French striker hold up a brand of his set-produced coffee in front of the DFL broadcast cameras. The DFB's disciplinary arm announced an investigation into the action the day after Modeste's coach and club denounced the deed.

The 34-year-old will receive instead receive a warning that he must "refrain from such behavior" in the future. Modeste himself made clear that he did not feel as if the celebration was a self-promotional act afterwards. Calling it "a thank you to all of those who believed in me", the team's leading goalscorer denied that he was actively trying to sell anything.
