Hainer and Kahn reiterate that Bayern will not sell Lewandowski this summer
FC Bayern remain adamant that Robert Lewandowski will fulfill his contract, although the striker wants to leave this summer.
Bayern München president Herbert Hainer and CEO Oliver Kahn have reiterated that Robert Lewandowski will not be allowed to leave the club this summer.
Yesterday, Lewandowski publicly confirmed his desire to leave Bayern this summer, one year before his contract expires, with the 33-year-old said to be keen on a move to Barcelona.
Bayern, however, have repeatedly stressed that Lewandowski will fulfill his contract, and the German champions made their stance clear again today.
"Robert Lewandowski has a contract until June 30, 2023, and will play for us until then," Bayern president Herbert Hainer told Sport1 on Sunday morning.
"When you sign a contract, and I've been doing that my whole career, both parties know what's in it. We can't speak of 'forcing' someone to fulfill their contract."
Club CEO Oliver Kahn later spoke in a similar vein, telling Bayerischer Rundfunk:
"We made an offer to his agent. He rejected this offer. That's his right. The fact is: He has a contract and he will fulfill it. Basta!"
