New Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has confirmed that Manuel Akanji doesn't want to extend his contract.

"Manuel has a contract until 2023, and he doesn't want to extend it," Kehl revealed in an interview with WAZ.

"Currently, there is nothing new. We are in close exchange with him and his agent and are waiting to see what happens now."

Manchester United, in particular, are said to be interested in the centre-back, but Juventus and Arsenal are probably still in the running too.

In the same interview, Kehl dismissed suggestions that 17-year-old wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko bid farewell to the club in a recent social media post.

"He apparently wanted to thank his departing teammates. There is no new status on him. He has a contract until 2023, and we would like to extend it," said Kehl.
