Niko Kovac is being touted as a candidate to replace Florian Kohfeldt as Wolfsburg coach.
'Die Wôlfe' would have liked to bring in Matthias Jaissle, but the 34-year-old has put speculation over his future to bed by extending his contract with RB Salzburg.
Kicker reports that Wolfsburg could now turn their attention to former Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Bayern coach Niko Kovac, who has been unemployed since leaving AS Monaco in the winter.
Sandro Schwarz, Bruno Labbadia, Daniel Farke, Adi Hütter and Thomas Reis have also been linked with the job.
