Boateng reveals desire to keep playing: "There's life in the old dog yet"

Hertha BSC veteran Kevin-Prince Boateng could extend his stay in the German capital after playing a key role in his side's relegation play-off second leg win over Hamburger SV.
Kevin-Prince Boateng started and played almost the full game as Hertha BSC secured another season in the Bundesliga with a 2-0 relegation play-off victory over Hamburger SV last night.

There has been speculation as to whether this could be the last season of Boateng's career. But the 35-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, appears to be keen on continuing as a professional footballer.

"I'm still up for it. Today, you saw that I can still keep up," Boateng said in an interview after Hertha's win over Hamburger SV.

"There's life in the old dog yet, and that goes for me personally too! It wasn't easy, but I'm so proud of the lads! Now I need three or four days to recover and celebrate a bit – I'm not as much as a party animal as I used to be.

"We need to learn a lot from this season, bring a bit of calm to the club, build our relationship with the fans back again and become a family once more, just like we were in this game – that's what Hertha BSC is all about," emphasized the veteran.
