How Germany could line up against Russia

This is how Germany's starting eleven for Thursday's match against Russia could look.
After defeats to both the Netherlands (0-3) and France (1-2) in October, Germany will be hoping to return to winning ways when Joachim Löw's troops face Russia in a friendly at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig on Thursday evening.

Below, we take a look at how the German starting eleven could look.

With Marc-André ter Stegen ruled out with shoulder problems, there should be no doubt that Manuel Neuer will start between the sticks.

Niklas Süle and Antonio Rüdiger will probably start in central defence while Matthias Ginter and Jonas Hector should fill out the full-back positions.

Since the World Cup, Joshua Kimmich has been playing as a defensive midfielder for Germany, and he is expected to continue there. Leon Goretzka is likely to play alongside him as it has been announced that Toni Kroos will be given a rest.

Offensive-wise, Germany will be without Marco Reus who has been ruled out with a bruised foot. It's likely that Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller and Serge Gnabry will play behind Timo Werner.

Naturally, many players will be eager to show a good performance to earn a spot in the starting eleven for the game against the Netherlands on Monday, and Germany coach Joachim Löw is likely to make a lot of substitutions during the game.

To sum up, this is how the German line-up could look:

Manuel Neuer - Matthias Ginter, Niklas Süle, Antonio Rüdiger, Jonas Hector - Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka - Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry - Timo Werner.
