Reports: Brugge emerge as takers for Boyata
As reported by Germany's preeminent footballing publication, Hertha BSC have found a taker for former captain Dedryck Boyata in the Belgian defender's home country.
Some two weeks after Hertha sporting CEO Fredi Bobic openly stated that the club wished to offload former captain Dedryck Boyata on Germany's famed "Doppelpass" sporting program, it appears as if an arrangement has been reached to send the 31-year-old back to Belgium. German footballing magazine Kicker reports that the German capital city side is in agreement with Club Brugge on a transfer.
Reports about the move initially surfaced in Germany's main sporting tabloid yesterday. Kicker now confirms the report and claims that the two clubs are in agreement on the transfer. Boyata, who still hopes to make Roberto Martinez's World Cup squad this coming winter, has actually never played professionally in his native land before.
The former Brussels academy man moved to Man City's developmental program in 2006. After stints with Bolton, Twente, and Celtic, Hertha snatched him up on a free back in 2009. The player whom Bobic openly declared "can't bring the team forward anymore" maintains an estimated market value of €3.5 million in the latest transfermarkt listings.
