Dutch online news portal Voetbal International reports that Excelsior Rotterdam might be willing to pick up FC Bayern's Adrian Fein.

Speaking on last night's Sky "Transfer Update" program, pundit Florian Plettenberg confirmed this while also noting the 23-year-old's former loan club of SSV Jahn Regensburg could be in the mix.

Despite the desire to find a quick solution to the issue of former German youth international Adrian Fein's placement after an MLS transfer fell through, The German giants have continued to have difficulty offloading a player widely regarded to be a problematic flop. Speaking on last night's Sky Germany "Transfer Update" program, German transfer expert Florian Plettenberg aptly described the issue surrounding Fein.

"He [Fein] earns a €2 million annual salary," Plettenberg explains, "As he no longer plays a role either with the first team or the reserves, he should leave and can be moved."

Rumors that Excelsior Rotterdam were interested in picking the player up began emerging yesterday. The salary issue remains a sticking point. Fein, entering the final year of his Bayern contract, cannot be loaned out again. The player himself will not be easily persuaded to tear up his current contract as part of a renewal with Bayern that would facilitate another loan or as part of a new deal with a transfer club.

Plettenberg emphasized that, to his knowledge, all parties involved still wished to strive for a solution. The transfer expert even went so far as to express optimism that some sort of deal could be arrived at in the coming days.
