Reports: Bologna win Zirkzee sweepstakes

Both Sky Germany and German tabloid Sport Bild are currently reporting that FC Bologna have won the race for young Bayern striker Joshua Zirkzee.
Some three days after FC Bologna joined the list of courters seeking to acquire the services of Bayern's Dutch attacking prospect Joshua Zirkzee, it appears that the Serie A club have won the race for the 21-year-old. Two reliable German footballing media sources report that Bayern and Bologna have agreed upon an €8.5 million transfer fee to complete the switch.

A return to R.S.C. Anderlecht, where Zirkzee thrived last season, seemed to be in the cards for the youngster. Sky Germany and Sport Bild nevertheless report that Zirkzee will soon sign a contract to play in Italy through 2026 once a medical is completed. The FCB have scored a re-sale stake and a buyback clause, according to both reports.

"I had a very long conversation with him," FCB trainer Julian Nagelsmann recently said when commenting on Zirkzee's situation, "I told him that Lewy leaving can also be an opportunity for him. He does certain things excellently and possesses great talent. A few more steps and a bit more punch in his actions could make him a great striker."
