Kingsley Ehizibue's transfer to the Italian Serie A is through. Various German media sources report that the right-back's Bundesliga club will receive a transfer fee of between €1.5 and €2 million for the defender they once paid PEC Zwolle €2 million for.

Though the move had been in the works for sometime, injuries sustained by the squad during this weekend's 0-0 draw with Stuttgart suddenly leave the Effzeh very thin in the defensive ranks. Defenders Julian Chabot and starting right-back Benno Schmitz are among those questionable for the next encounter.

Köln sporting director Christian Keller has promised that the club will remain active in the final 48 hours of the transfer window in order to strengthen the squad. Yesterday, the executive acknowledged that "a new situation had arisen" in light of the inures. Köln paid tribute to Ehizibue's three years of service on their social media feed, acknowledging that Ehizibue had brought much to the club with his energy and attitude.
