Kicker Magazine: Lacroix remaining in Wolfsburg despite late rumor flurry

The staff at German footballing magazine Kicker cites its own sources to, unsurprisingly, assert that Fabrizio Romano's report of Southampton's late swoop for Maxence Lacroix will lead nowhere.

According to Germany's preeminent footballing publication, Lacroix is most definitely staying put. Rumors linking the defender with Leicester City arre also unsubstantiated.
Social media is currently abuzz after Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed that FC Southhampton have tried to ply defender Maxence Lacroix away from Wolfsburg with a late flash of EPL cash. German footballing magazine Kicker, who maintain inside contacts within the VfL, has now weighed in to insist that this is patently false.

Transfer rumors involving the talented 22-year-old Frenchman have remained a staple of daily life in German footballing circles during every transfer window since the youngster's emergence with the club. Wolfsburg have repeatedly beat back high-value offers for the Sochaux native and will be in no mood to entertain even the wildest of offers.

Romano's report earlier in the week that Chelsea had offered Leipzig €90 million for Josko Gvardiol was never verified. The Croatian signed a contract extension with his Bundesliga club today.
