Bruun Larsen explains why he joined Borussia Dortmund
Jacob Bruun Larsen has looked back on his decision to move from Denmark to join Borussia Dortmund at the age of 16.
After coming through the youth ranks at Borussia Dortmund, 20-year-old Jacob Bruun Larsen has made his breakthrough for the first team this season.
Speaking at the '19.09 - der schwarzgelbe Talk' event on Tuesday evening, Bruun Larsen explained why he chose to leave Danish side Lyngby Boldklub at the age of 16 to join the BVB.
"I felt very comfortable from the beginning. It's very familiar here. The mentality that I experience here was what I needed back then. I was also convinced by the BVB off the pitch. Last but not least, our former coach Hannes Wolf made a major contribution to that at the time," Bruun Larsen said according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
While playing under Dortmund's former youth coach Hannes Wolf, Bruun Larsen won the championship with both the under-17 team and the under-19 team before being handed his first team debut in the DFB-Pokal in October 2016.
After spending the second half of last season on loan at VfB Stuttgart, Bruun Larsen returned to emerge as a first team regular under Lucien Favre - and that makes him incredibly proud.
"This is one of the biggest clubs in the world. We have so many fans. I experienced it at the stadium as a fan myself, and I looked up to the pros as a young player. Now, I'm part of this team and the family - that's fantastic. I enjoy it every day. That makes me very, very happy and proud as well," Bruun Larsen said.
Bruun Larsen has made 13 appearances for Dortmund this season with three goals and two assists to his name.
