Bayern are unlikely to make any January transfers, says Kovac
Bayern München are not planning to sign any players in January, says Niko Kovac.
Bayern München coach Niko Kovac says the Bavarians are currently not considering making any winter transfers.
Alphonso Davies has joined the club from Vancouver Whitecaps on a deal that was already agreed in the summer. And the 18-year-old winger will most likely be the only new addition to Bayern's squad this winter, Kovac said at a press conference today.
"We're keeping an eye on the market. In Alphonso Davies, we have brought in a player who has finished the season (in the United States). As of now, we're not going to do anything else. In the winter, the prices for good players are particularly high. The winter transfer market is extremely small, and a club like Bayern would have to dig deep into its pockets," Kovac told reporters.
Kovac also revealed that he has changed his approach to rotation. In the future, the Bayern coach intends to make fewer changes to his line-up from game to game.
"I talked to the team about it, because it didn't work the way I thought it would. There will only be rotation if someone gets injured. This is not a nice situation for those who are in the back. But the players must stay ready and take the chance when they get it," he said.
In their next game, Kovac and Bayern will be up against FC Nürnberg on Saturday.
