Gladbach updates: Kramer in line for potential return, Lainer ruled out

Borussia Mönchengladbach trainer Daniel Farke expressed the hope that his newly anointed regular ten might be fit in time for the weekend clash with Frankfurt at his Friday presser.
Since claiming the spot as the team's new regular ten in attack, former German international Christoph Kramer has proven an indispensable part of the BMG attacking engine. The 31-year-old has nevertheless been absent from the squad's last two games with a knock. Attempts to plug captain Lars Stindl and Jonas Hofmann directly into Farke's established set of tactics have produced less than stellar results.

After Kramer partook in a full-squad training session on Friday, Farke expressed the hope that Kramer could be back in time for Satruday's league fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt.

"With Chris Kramer, signs are positive," Farke remarked at his Friday presser, "He was able to complete the unit today with the team. There we have to wait a bit to see how his body reacts. If everything remains positive, he can be a topic for a squad return tomorrow. His break was not too long He hasn't lost too much substance."

Farke also confirmed the right fullback Stefan Lainer would be unavailable for tomorrow's encounter with symptoms of a stomach bug. This means that American Joe Scally, despite some marked signs of a form dip, will definitely retain his place in the starting XI.
