At the start of the month, Bayern München president Uli Hoeness said that this is likely to be Franck Ribery's last season at the club.

Since then, Ribery himself has made it clear that he would like to stay, but Bayern München sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has underlined that the 35-year-old is expected to leave the club when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

"The president spoke of it. I think it will be that way. It's a year of transition. But I'm happy that Franck plays so well at the moment," Salihamidzic told Bild.

Salihamidzic also said that when Ribery hangs up his boots, he could be in line for a job at Bayern.

"We can always talk about everything. He has been part of an era at the club and is a great player who has proved his worth here - just like Arjen Robben," he explained.

Arjen Robben, Ribery's teammate through nearly a decade, recently announced that he will wave goodbye to Bayern after this season.
