Gladbach keen to extend with aging duo

Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus wants to extend the expiring contracts of Lars Stindl and Christoph Kramer.
Borussia Mönchengladbach want to tie experienced midfield all-rounders Lars Stindl and Christoph Kramer down to new contracts.

Stindl and Kramer, 34 and 31 years old respectively, are out of contract at the end of the season, but Gladbach want to keep them.

"For us, it's clear: We would like to continue with [Stindl] and extend his contract," Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus told Sport Bild and added that he wants to take the "life planning" of the long-time captain into account.

With regard to the future of Kramer, who has fought his way into the starting line-up under Daniel Farke and into Germany's provisional squad for the World Cup, Virkus said:

"We'd like to keep him. We've had intensive discussions with him recently and told him that in concrete terms."
