Schalke 04 place five players on the transfer list

Schalke 04 have reportedly put five players on the transfer list ahead of the January transfer window.
With the January transfer window just around the corner, Schalke 04 have decided they want to get rid of five players, Sport Bild reports.

According to the German media outlet, the Schalke bosses held a meeting on Monday at which they decided to place Franco Di Santo, Johannes Geis, Yevhen Konoplyanka, Breel Embolo and Omar Mascarell on the transfer list.

In total, Schalke paid €65,5 million for the five players, and 'The Royal Blues' will have to accept a substantial loss if they sell them in January.

Franco Di Santo and Johannes Geis are both out of contract in the summer, and Schalke want to cash in on the two players who play no part in coach Domenico Tedeco's plans.

Additionally, the club also want to get rid of Yevhen Konoplyanka, who is one of the club's top earners, the currently injured record-signing Breel Embolo, who has failed to live up to the expectations since joining from Basel for €26,5 million in 2016, and Omar Mascarell who only just joined the club from Real Madrid for €10 million in the summer.

Meanwhile, Schalke also want to reinforce the team in January and are said to be looking for a winger and a striker.
