L'Equipe Report: Augsburg also preparing to sign French striker
In addition to all the other incoming transfer rumors surrounding FC Augsburg, France's preeminent footballing publication now claims that the Fuggerstädter are also preparing to sign striker Irvin Cardona from Stade Brest in the coming days.
Many rumors involving incoming transfers in Germany's Fuggerstadt have cropped up today. Multiple sources claimed that the the Bavarian Swabians were on the verge of signing a Croat "youth duo" in the form of fullback David Colina and striker Dion Beljo early in the day. As a rumor concerning interest from three Bundesliga sides in Genoa striker Kelvin Yeboah emerged, Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg brought Augsburg's name into the mix.
There appears to be nothing to the latter connection. Assuming that the former links are legit, one should expect an introduction of both players very soon. France's L'Équipe asserts that there may even be a third new introduction for the FCA in the coming days. Former French youth international Irvin Cardona is, according to the newspaper, in agreement to join the Bundesliga outfit from France's Stade Brest. The 25-year-old will come in on an economical transfer.
Cardona joined Brest from AS Monaco in 2019, following a highly encouraging extended loan stint with Belgium's Cercle Brugge. Declining involvement in the squad has seen his estimated market worth fall from a peak of €8 million in the summer of 2021 to €2.5 million today. The former French youth international netted just four goals last season. He hasn't scored or registered an assist in ten (mostly relief) appearances this year and hasn't even made the squad in the past three matchdays.
