Fantasy Bundesliga: 10 players to consider for Matchday 16
Here are 10 players you should consider bringing into your Fantasy Bundesliga team for Matchday 16.
In this Fantasy Bundesliga article, we will not be focusing on the most obvious picks such as Vincenzo Grifo or Jamal Musiala.
Instead, we will highlight players with a maximum ownership percentage of 20%, who could offer great value as differentials for Matchday 16.
Janis Blaswich, RB Leipzig (Goalkeeper, 3.3M, 6%)
Blaswich has been struggling with a calf problem recently, but is expected to be fit for tomorrow's clash with Bayern. With Peter Gulacsi still sidelined with a long-term injury, the 31-year-old will be Leipzig's starting goalkeeper for the months to come. He obviously has a tough opening fixture, but we've seen other goalkeepers do very well against the German champions earlier in the season. In any case, the 31-year-old should offer great value for money further down the road, costing just 3.3 million and playing regularly for one of the top sides.
Maximilian Mittelstädt, Hertha BSC (Defender, 5.3M, 0%)
Selected by 0% of Fantasy managers, Mittelstädt has been limited to just seven appearances this season, but much indicates his fortunes will change. Hertha have announced that Marvin Plattenhardt, his main competitor for the left-back spot, will leave the club in the summer. In addition, Plattenhardt missed the club's pre-season camp due to his vaccine status and only just returned from illness. In light of this, Mittelstädt has emerged as Hertha's starter at left-back for the Bundesliga restart, with a tasty fixture against 17th-placed Bochum coming up first.
Christopher Trimmel, Union Berlin (Defender, 8.1M, 4%)
Trimmel rounded off 2022 in poor fashion with Union, but showed what he's capable of earlier in the season, scoring double-digits on five occasions. Julian Ryerson's move to Dortmund means Trimmel should be more nailed on to start going forward, and he's available at a cheaper price this week because of the game's new sales feature.
Raphael Guerreiro, Dortmund (Defender, 12.1M, 6%)
Guerreiro made his return from a knock and should therefore be fit to start Sunday's game against Augsburg. With the ceiling he has and an attractive stand-alone fixture on the horizon, Guerreiro is difficult to look past, although his injury history is a concern. If you're looking for a cheaper option from Dortmund, you could take a gamble and bring in their new signing Julian Ryerson (5.6M, 15%), who is being tipped to come straight into the starting line-up by German football magazine Kicker.
Alphonso Davies, Bayern (Defender, 16.6M, 14%)
Davies hasn't performed as well as expected this season, but with 107 points to his name (9 on average), he has still been the ninth-best performing defender in terms of overall points and the joint second-best on average per game. Davies' price tag may be high, but the left-back's status as an undisputed starter for Bayern combined with his attacking prowess make him an extremely attractive option.
Florian Wirtz, Leverkusen (Midfielder, 11.3M, 4%)
Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Florian Wirtz is finally back and ready to roll again, having recovered from the cruciate ligament rupture he suffered all the way back in March. The 19-year-old looks nailed on to start in attacking midfield again after impressing during the winter break. He costs 1.2 million less if you bring him in ahead of Matchday 16, as he's on sale.
Daichi Kamada, Frankfurt (Midfielder, 12M, 17%)
Getting either Kamada or Lindstrøm (in addition to Muani up front) this week is recommendable this week, with Eintracht Frankfurt facing bottom-placed Schalke at home. Despite playing in a deeper role towards the end of 2022, Kamada managed to find the net 12 times in 22 games in all competitions before the turn of the year, and it adds to his value that he's Frankfurt's penalty taker.
Marco Reus, Dortmund (Midfielder, 14.7M, 3%)
After fighting his way back from a lengthy injury lay-off, the BVB captain should be back in the starting line-up for Sunday's stand-alone fixture against Augsburg at home. This makes the 33-year-old attacking midfielder a very attractive pick this week, although he may need a bit of time to get back to 100 percent.
Wilfried Kanga, Hertha BSC (Striker, 8.7M, 0%)
Another player who has made the most of the winter break, Kanga has found the net seven times in six friendlies ahead of the second half of the season. With a game against relegation-threatened Bochum coming up, the Ivorian striker should have a good chance of continuing his red-hot form and could turn out to be a differential diamond.
Youssoufa Moukoko, Dortmund (Striker, 9.3M, 12%)
Moukoko nailed down a starting place before the winter break and should keep his place in the line up while Sebastien Haller works his way back to top form. Dortmund's stand-alone home fixture on Sunday makes it reasonable to consider the young forward, who's on sale this week.
