VfL Bochum have engaged in a bit of roster trimming with the loan-out of young defensive prospect Tim Oermann.

Nineteen-year-old defector Tim Oermann found himself unexpectedly thrust into the fray early this season after departures and injuries along VfL Bochum's defensive line left the team's coaching regimes in need of extra bodies. After four Bundesliga appearances (one start), Oermann will now get a chance to gain more playing practice in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Bochum confirmed Oermann's loan-out to Wolfsberger AC early Tuesday afternoon. Oermann will play under former Freiburg, Leverkusen, Bremen, and Bochum head-coach Robin Dutt at the Austrian outfit. In a statement accompanying the deal, Dutt called Oermann "precisely the player we've been looking for at the back."

"We are convinced that this step is exactly the right one for Tim's sporting and personal development," Bochum sporting director Patrick Fabian noted in a statement, "The loan to the Austrian top flight will enable him to get as much playing time as possible. The increasingly competitive situation for us at the back doesn't allow for this."

"I'm very happy that this has worked out," the player himself added, "My first impression is quite positive. I think this loan is a very good move for both sides. The Austrian Bundesliga features a very high level of play and offers a great development platform for young players."

Oermann's loan-out lasts six months. Germany's Kicker magazine claims that there is no purchase option built into the deal.
